The camera comes back on once more. This time we’re back on the pier.
It’s…odd. Two weeks have passed, yet I feel…glad, honestly.
Drake’s been rather nice companion to talk to and I’ve enjoyed our company. With a S*** stick hanging out of my mouth, we shake hands for the last time.
“Thank you, Drake, honestly...you’ve been nice company,” I say.
“You’re too kind. Don’t be a stranger though. I’ve enjoyed our time together, even if what brought us together wasn’t by more fortunate circumstances. It’s been nice talking to somebody,” he says.
“Drake…you really need to think about getting out. Maybe not permanently, but long enough that you at least know what it’s like elsewhere,” I say.
With a small sigh, Drake once again shows me that smile of his.
“Sorry Nathan, but…I can’t. Despite everything, I’m still stuck to this place. Maybe it’s pathetic, maybe it’s a mistake, but…I feel like one day…this place might be thriving again. And what kind of curator would I be if I couldn’t show people what this city was like?” Drake asks.
As a smirk forms on my lips, I offer my hand towards my new…friend.
He shakes it in kind.
“I’ll be sure to show up if I ever get vacation from this stupid house arrest,” I say.
“Reap what you sow, unfortunately. Oh…if they ever decide to sent you to Hoenn, see if you can find my brother. You’ll know him when you meet him, trust me, but I’ve been meaning to contact him. Just…let him know Drake wants to talk to him,” he says.
“I can agree to that,” I say.
The two of us let go of our hands.
“I suppose this is goodbye then,” I say.
“Indeed it is. Good luck Nathan. Keep in mind, not all of them are going to be as nice or as open as I was. Take this as your vacation, if you wish, because…there might be worse things up ahead,” Drake says.
I nod, allowing him his final thoughts.
“Goodbye Drake,” I say.
“Goodbye Nathan,” he says.
And with that, I turn the camera off.
